Café-style porridge

Base (see below for further options)

  • 1/3 cup rolled oats 
  • 1/3 cup milk 
  • 2/3 cup water 
  • Pinch salt 
  • 1 tsp chia seeds 

Apple Crumble 

  • ½ medium apple (grated or finely diced) 
  • 1 tbsp shredded coconut 
  • ¼–½ tsp ground cinnamon, to suit taste preferences 
  • 1 tbsp roughly chopped walnuts 
  • 1 tsp sweetener (such as honey, maple syrup, brown sugar)

Banana & Cinnamon

  • ½ banana, chopped 
  • ¼–½ tsp ground cinnamon, to suit taste preferences    

Carrot Cake 

  • 1 small carrot (grated) 
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger 
  • ¼ heaped tsp ground cinnamon 
  • 1 tsp sultanas 
  • 1 tbsp shredded coconut 
  • 1 tbsp roughly chopped walnuts 
  • Serve with drizzle honey and a dollop of Greek yoghurt.


  1. Place all base ingredients in a saucepan on medium heat. Stir well. 
  2. Add flavour combo ingredients and stir to bring to the boil. 
  3. Gently simmer on low heat for 5–10 minutes until desired consistency. 
  4. Stir every minute or so to avoid sticking to the pan
